How To Record Your Computer Screen

Speed painting is basically making a time-lapse video of the process to create a piece of digital art.

Before you can make a SpeedPaint Video, you have to know how to record your screen.

To record your screen, you'll first need software to do it. I used VLC, a free screen recording software program. Once you have downloaded and installed VLC to your computer, you're now ready to record anything you want. In my case, I decided to record the process of creating a piece of art in Photoshop.

HOW TO RECORD YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN:

1) Open VLC

2) Click FILE

3) Open Capture device

4) From CAPTURE click ISIGHT to SCREEN

5) Check the STREAMING/SAVING box

6) Click Settings

7) Click BROWSE. Name your file.

8) Chose MPEG 4 (Next to: Encapsulation Method)

9) Click VIDEO and choose "h264" (Under Transcoding options)

10) Choose "3072" (Under Transcoding Options/BITRATE kb/s)

11) Click OK

12) Click OPEN (to begin recording)

Once you start recording your screen, you can now open the program you want to work with and begin recording your work.

*To stop the video, click the PLAYBACK tab at the top of your screen (make sure you're in the VLC software program) and then click STOP. Once you have done this, you can view your video, which should be on your desktop.

Use your favorite video uploader to upload your video to YouTube or simply sign into your account and upload your video using the YouTube software program.

Thanks for tuning in!
